Which size works for a wedding piece?
The 2.75" x 4" small full-color card is the most popular: it fits a place setting, a favor bag, and a standard envelope, and it holds a full design without feeling like a flyer. For a save-the-date that needs a photo and mailing panel, the 4" x 6" medium full-color card mails at the USPS postcard rate. For a keepsake handed to a small guest list, the 2" x 3.5" mini reads like a ticket.

Should the reveal be silver or full color?
For weddings, full color is usually worth the difference. A full-color reveal prints artwork under the scratch layer, so what appears is a photograph, a monogram, a date in your typeface, rather than plain text on white. Budget more than the equivalent Classic card; the gap depends on size and quantity. If you want the metallic look on purpose, a Classic silver or gold reveal against a dark palette still looks elegant, and it costs less.
What are the three formats couples actually order?
- Save-the-date. The date hides under the reveal. Guests scratch to find it, and the card ends up on a refrigerator instead of in a recycling bin.
- Reception game. A card at each place setting with tiers behind the reveal: a centerpiece to take home, a drink ticket, a photo booth prop, a thank you note.
- Favor or keepsake. A short message, a monogram, or a printed thank you under the panel, often with a die-cut shape.
Can wedding scratch off cards be sold to guests?
No. Nobody may buy a scratch off card or pay for a chance at a prize, since that would make it a lottery. Reception games and favors are giveaways. If a wedding is doubling as a charitable event, the compliant path is scratch and donate, explained on the nonprofits and fundraisers page.
What stock feels right for a keepsake?
Standard 12pt C2S is a solid, familiar card weight. For anything meant to be kept, step up to 14pt or 16pt: the extra thickness is immediately noticeable in the hand and holds a clean edge after die cutting. Metallic accents pair well with monograms; see foil and metallic accents and cardstock weights.
Can the cards be a custom shape?
Yes. Hearts, arches, tags, rounded ticket shapes, and other outlines are available through the custom size and shape option, which supports any rectangle from 2" x 2" up to 8.5" x 11" as well as die-cut outlines. Custom dies carry a one-time die charge quoted with the job; standard rectangular trims do not.
What is the minimum order and what does it cost?
Online orders start at 250 cards for every scratch off size we print, and phone and email orders start at 500 cards. Small full-color starts at $572.50 for 250 cards, about $2.29 each, and the same trim in Classic silver starts at $450. Across the catalog, per-card pricing runs from $0.08 on high-volume mini runs to $3.06 on low-quantity large full-color jobs. What does the timeline look like for a wedding?
Standard production is 7 to 10 business days after proof approval, and rush production of 3 to 5 business days is available when the press schedule allows. Digital proofs are free and typically same-day, and quotes come back within one business day. For save-the-dates, work backward from your mailing date and give yourself a two-week buffer for addressing and assembly.
Who lays out the artwork?
We do, at no charge, when you send copy, photos, and direction. Our in-house team places the reveal areas, sets the bleed at 0.125 in, and keeps type inside the safe zone. Custom illustration or from-scratch design work beyond layout is $125 per hour. If you are working with your own designer, they can send a print-ready file and we will proof it.
What details do couples forget?
Three, every time:
- Guest count plus spares. Order for the invite list, not the RSVP list.
- Where the reveal lands in the design. Do not put it over a face or the couple's names.
- What happens if a guest scratches the wrong card. Print the game rules on the back so the table can settle it themselves.
